Eyesight Is Important: Take Care (written for Improving Vision Exercises)

Your eyes are important you, and you want them to perform well for you for a long time. They are important organs in our body, yet they are also very fragile, vulnerable, and often overused. Almost half the people in the United States wear some form of corrective lenses for their vision. Lenses are helpful, but only temporary.

Some experts even say that you can become dependent on your lenses and keep your eyes from working on their own anymore. Go for a couple of weeks without wearing your lenses, if you can. Your vision will be impaired, of course, but after a while, your eyes may go to work to see things more clearly on their own. If your vision is blurry, try relaxing your eyes.

Teaching your eyes to relax periodically throughout the day can revers the deteriorating direction of your eyesight. Part of relaxing your eyes includes relaxing your mind too. Mental and eye strain may not be completely unavoidable; therefore, learning to manage strain and to take a break from it may be your best bet.

Palming is an excellent relaxation strategy for your eyes. Warm your hands, then cup them over your eyes. Relax your mind and then your eyes will rest too. Be sure to have your elbows resting on something stable so that your entire body can be relaxed. You can do this for at least fifteen minutes, and watch for the color of the darkness to go from grey to black. Try the dot exercise also. Focus on a period or a comma on a piece of paper until it is very clear. Then, close your eye for a minute or so to let them relax. Then, open your eyes and let them wander all over the page slowly while blinking. Close your eyes again and imagine the period or comma, open your eyes again and view that point. It should appear more clearly now.

Try Natural Methods Before Surgery

Nearly fifty percent people in the United States use contacts or glasses. Lenses are only short-term solutions to vision problems, however. You can opt to have corrective surgery to improve your vision, or you can try some natural methods first. Lenses can allow your eyes to stay in their present bad habits and never improve.

Start by not wearing your lenses for a couple of weeks. You may be surprised that the initial blurriness eventually changes. One of the keys to improving your vision is to relieve your eyes from anxiety and strain. Relaxation techniques prove to be invaluable to restoring one's eyesight.

Relax Your Mind and Eyes For Optimal Health

To keep your mind sharp, keep your vision sharp over the years too. The two go hand-in-hand really; what you see with your eyes, you can then remember. And, the better your vision, the better you can see the image. Wouldn't it be nice if both your mind and your eyes could remain healthy for years and years to come?

Healthy vision and the ability to focus mentally are skills that are connected. Stress and emotional pressure can limit the ability of both the eyes and the mind. So, anything that you can do to promote relaxation and peace will add to your overall health.

One way that you can test the current state of your eyes is to practice mental memory. Try covering one eye and looking quickly at an image with the uncovered eye. Next, close both eyes and keep the image in your mind as long as you can. In your mind, count how many seconds the image stays in your thoughts before you cannot see it anymore. Now switch eyes and repeat.

Another way to relax your eyes and mind is to close your eyes and only think about pictures and thoughts that make you happy. Even just closing your eyes and contemplating the darkness that you "see" can be relaxing. Open your eyes and try again. Hopefully, each time you do this exercise, you will notice an improvement and change in your state of relaxation and perhaps in you vision too.

Another relaxation exercise can be done while lying in bed. As you lie there, consider all the positive things that happened throughout the day. Recreate the scenes and the live pictures of the even in color and detail as best you can. Thinking positive thoughts before you sleep will clear your head, relax your mind and body, and will prepare you for good rest.
